Brac Island - Dalmatia

The island of Brac is one of the greatest islands of the Adriatic covered by woods, pines and olives, and famous for white marble, used for building the White House of Washington, the Reichstag in Berlin and the center of the Parliament in Vienna.

Connections with the dry land: ferry from Split and from Makarska. With it's 394 km2 it is the biggest dalmatian island and the second one between 1185 islands in the Adriatic sea. Vidova gora with it's hight of 778 m is making this island the highest island of the Adriatic. It's length is 40 km and it's width is between 4 and 13 km. With it's 175 km long coast Brac embraced the warm, blue and cristal sea. Brac is the island of the sun with more than 2700 hours of sunshine per year and it is one of the sunniest islands of Croatia.

Some of the must see points is THE DESERT BLACA, first-class monument, established and built by the priests from Poljica in 16th century. They found the shelter in this area in front of the Turkish invasions. It is so difficult to say is it more precious to visit this convent or enjoy the road which takes you to this place.

THE BEACH "ZLATNI RAT" on the west side from Bol. It is one of the most attractive world beaches and it's end which has a form of the triangle sometimes lays on the west and sometimes on the east side, depending of the sea currents.

SAINT VID ON VIDOVA GORA, the highest peak of the Adriatic islands from where you can enjoy stunning view on the beach Zlatni Rat and on the whole Dalmatian archipelago.
